I was interested in photography since I was a child in the 1980s when my mother gave me her old Kodak Instamatic 126 (with integrated leather wraparound case!). I progressed to a slightly more modern but inferior 110 format film camera for family snapshots, and later embraced the new APS Advanced Photo System in the mid-1990s.
Developing my own film never appealed to me so when digital cameras started to really advance in the early 2000s I was immediately interested. I bought my first digital SLR in 2004 – the Canon EOS 20D. I was particularly interested in high resolution panoramas and night photography and spent several years practising techniques, experimenting and mastering digital post-processing. I feel like I’ve learned a lot, but with each image I work on I still find I’m learning more. And that’s the joy of photography.
